A Quarter Of British Fleets Are Operating More Vehicles Post-Pandemic
One in four British fleets are running more vehicles than they did prior to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic…
More Fleet Vehicles
If new figures are anything to go by, SMEs in the UK have successfully navigated the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic; a quarter of them are running more fleet vehicles than before it started. Some 80% of SMEs surveyed by Opinion Matters have had to adapt their business strategies since the first lockdown. Nearly half of them (46%) have implemented a new vehicle management software system; a further 30% have also pursued the digitalisation of their fleets.
More specifically, a quarter of the surveyed businesses have added new vehicles to their fleets, largely due to increased customer demand. That said, the same figure (25%) also stated that their fleet running costs had increased, too.
Resilient and Adaptable
Ronald Clancy, UK country manager at Vimcar, commented on the survey’s results. He said, “this data shows us just how resilient and adaptable UK SMEs have had to be to ensure the continuation of their businesses – and the reliance that these businesses have on the effective running of their fleets”. He added, “when we look to the future and the roadmap to recovery there are still challenges ahead, but it is positive to see that the digitalisation of fleets is an ongoing commitment for SMEs and their future success”.
Overall, 94% of SME fleets believe that the impact of technology on their fleets has been positive. Indeed, 33% of the surveyed businesses intend to install a fleet tracker or to invest in a fleet management solution; largely as a result of anticipated future challenges.
